Event #1: $750 WPTDeepStacks Gold Coast Opening Event

[ Day 1A: Friday, May 21, 4:30 PM | Day 1B: Saturday, May 22, 11:30 AM | Final: Sunday, May 23, 11:30 AM ]

WPTDeepStacks Gold Coast has started with a massive field in the AUD750 Opening Event. On Friday's Day 1A a total 221 entries entered the field. It was Yuwei WEI who bagged 330,000 as the chipleader of 36 survivors who qualified for Day2 on Sunday.  Day 1B on Saturday brought 41 players into the Final day - topped by Matt YARHAM with 343,000 chips. The extra 271 entries resulted in a total of 492 buyins and a massive total prize pool of AUD 332,100.

On 11:30 AM on Sunday the 77 remaining Players came back to fight for the first prestigious title of the festival, a beautiful surfboard trophy and AUD 65,270 for the Champion.

1 heads up

The final battle was between Idris Hassan (left) and Peter Aposotlou (right). Peter took a healthy lead into the heads-up, but Idris never gave up and eventually triumphed. The sheer joy of the win from Idris and his friends was evident in the way they celebrated. It seems like it could be a big night ahead.

Peter Apostolou settles for 2nd place and $45,743 and a big congratulations to our first champion for WPTDeepStacks Gold Coast, Idris Hassan, who takes home $65,270!

Event #2: $2,000 WPTDeepStacks 1-Day Event

[One-Day Event starting at Sunday, May 23, 2:30 PM]

The second title awarding tournament on Sunday also created a huge prize pool and an even bigger first prize.

On the final table, eliminations were moving rapidly as players tried to make their mark on the table and build up chips stacks. When we got to our final 2 players, heads-up play between Ehsan Amiri and Ron Bean appeared as if it would be over quickly, as Ehsan held a commanding chip lead after eliminating Dan Gabriel in 3rd place. Ehsan held over 80% of the chips on the table, as Ron looked to make a dent in his stack. Ron had made some headway into the chips and looked in good shape with AJ vs Ehsan’s 24. Ehsan made a pair on the flop, however Ron was ecstatic to see an Ace on the turn to make a better pair.

The tournament looked to be headed towards an even chip count, however Ehsan’s tournament winning dreams became a reality with another 2 on the river giving him 3 of a kind, and first place prizemoney of $68,988 and one of our fantastic WPTDeepStacks trophies were in Ehsan’s hands! Ron collects a very handy $43,651 as runner up in the 2k One Day Event.

Congratulations to Ehsan Amiri for winning the 132 entry $2k One-Day-Event for AUD 68,988!
